Wondermilk is the brand name for a family of dairy products made from the milk of the cows at Hua Xia Dairy Farm near Beijing.

Hua Xia was established in 2004, by a small group of entrepreneurial Californians who shared the vision of creating a world class dairy farm in China. Located in Sanhe, one hour east of Beijing, the Hua Xia pioneers began by buying some land and importing 180 New Zealand Holstein cows - and they haven’t looked back since!

With the goal of producing the highest quality milk possible, the hands-on owner managers have sourced the best dairy technology available to build Hua Xia which is now considered a role model for future development of the Chinese dairy industry.

As of Spring 2010, the herd size has reached 6000, via a combination of in-house breeding programs and the importation of cows from Australia and New Zealand. The farm is modeled on American style free-stall accommodation with sand beds, temperature controlled fans and sprinklers. I.T. is used throughout the business – to check and control animal nutrition, animal welfare, milk yields (via RFID tags) and more. Strong partnerships are in place with leading industry partners including Kirby for computerized TMR feed wagons, and De Laval for milking equipment. Hua Xia was selected by the US Grains Council to be its demo center and training partner in China.

The milk produced by Hua Xia Dairy Farm is of world class standard. Daily analysis statistics position it as one of the safest and naturally healthy milk sources in China. This is not only thanks to the modern and hi-tech farming methods employed, but also to the strong conviction that natural is best and that only healthy and contented cows will produce naturally healthy milk. The farm has a strict “no hormones, no additives, no antibiotics” policy (it does not use the term “organic”). In addition, Hua Xia is now working towards formal accreditation as a qualified “Grade A Pasteurized Milk producer”. This is an ordinance from the US Dept of Health and Human Services, Food and Drug Administration which covers all aspects of milk production and which is an internationally recognized standard of excellence.

Hua Xia is at the forefront of dairy farming in China. However, far from keeping its methods secret, HuaXia is proud to share its knowledge and expertise. Its aim is to raise standards across the entire Chinese dairy industry so that it provides healthier dairy products to increasingly health conscious consumers.
